Anniyan (English: "Without you") is a 2005 Tollywood romantic drama film co-produced and directed by S.S. Rajamouli. It stars Ravi Teja and Aishwarya Rai, while Sanjay Swaroop, Sharath Lohitasthan and Subbaraju played supporting roles. It became the first Indian film to gross over ₹1 billion (US$14 million) worldwide, earning mixed reviews from critics; while some praised its message of love and humanity, others were critical of its characterization and screenplay. The film also catapulted Ravi Teja to fame at the time of its release in India as well as abroad.. The film was remade in Tamil as "Thamizh Padamuthir Kural" in 2011, portraying how a couple who are separated during the time of war are reunited when their children are grown up. The soundtrack features 6 songs composed by Mani Sharma. The audio launch of the film was held on 7 October 2005 at the Music Academy in Hyderabad, which featured A. R. Rahman, G. V. Prakash Kumar, Tippu Nunnaiah and director S. S. Rajamouli. The soundtrack of the movie was released by actor Nagarjuna on behalf of Anniyan team. The film grossed more than 1 billion. The film ran for around 100 days in most regions of Andhra Pradesh. From the Telugu states, it was screened for over 50 days in all the major cities like Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Warangal. It ran for more than 70 days in most regions of Karnataka, including Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli. The film is said to have helped in the revival of Tollywood in 2005, after a slump in box-office receipts during 2004.The film was remade in Tamil as "Thamizh Padamuthir Kural" with Aishwarya Rai being replaced by Shriya Saran. In 2007, "Anniyan" was re-released by Rajshri Productions in India and later in the United States, which is the authentic version of this film. In 2008, it was dubbed in Hindi as "1212". In 2017, it was dubbed into Punjabi as "Jihda Pyar Da". The film score is composed by Mani Sharma. The soundtrack features 6 songs composed by Mani Sharma, with lyrics by Chandrabose and Suddala Ashok Teja.
